Learn the principles of the Winter Sowing Germination Method to grow your own native plants from seed, while storing them outdoors all winter.
Have you ever wanted to grow your own native plants but didn’t have the space or know-how? Learn the principles of the Winter Sowing Germination Method to grow your own native plants from seed, while storing them outdoors all winter. After viewing this presentation, you’ll understand how to use milk jugs, potting soil, and seeds to start hundreds of plants that you can transplant into your garden or share with others. Each participant will start one "winter sown" jug of their own, with seeds from the PDL Seed Library, to take home with them.
Presenter Jon Warner is a certified Michigan Master Naturalist, avid gardener, and advocate for native plants and ecology. He has grown thousands of native plants over the last 6 years through Winter Sowing. He lives in Texas Corners and currently manages a certified wildlife habitat in his ½ acre yard.
