Makerspace Assistant Sean Cornish will help you create your very own personal NFC tag using design software and our CNC router.
Registration Required
In order to make sure that as many people as possible enjoy the programs in our Makerspace, we are setting a limit of one program per month per registrant for Makerspace programs.
NFC tags are an exciting new technology that saves links and data in electronic waves. NFC works like a hotel key or a tap-to-pay card and integrates fully with modern phones. This project will allow users to create a link or a contact card on an NFC disk and create a basic metal and wood project on a CNC mill. You can choose any website that you would like to link your NFC disc to, whether it's your business, your calendar, or any other frequently visited site. Your phone will immediately go to the site when you tap your NFC tag.
This program has a high degree of difficulty, and previous experience with design software and web links is strongly recommended.
Due to time constraints, some NFC tags will need to be engraved after the program and picked up at a later date.
Attendee slots are limited due to space and equipment limitations. If you register and are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible to allow other patrons a chance to sign up.
If registration fills up and you are not able to attend one of these sessions, the Makerspace has Staffed Hours every day, where a trained Makerspace staff person can help you with projects such as this one or other projects you might have. Please visit our website for our Staffed Hours. Creation Station
All participants are welcome. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact Sean Cornish at scornish@portagelibrary.info in advance of your visit.
