STEM Librarian Jane Fleming will show you how to design a small, personalized sign using the CNC router software.

Registration Required

In order to make sure that as many people as possible enjoy the programs in our Makerspace, we are setting a limit of one program per month. This is for Makerspace programs with registration only.

The CNC Router in our Makerspace can cut and engrave a wide variety of materials, including wood, metals, and plastics. In this introductory program on CNC machining, learn how to use Carbide Create software to make a small sign. You can choose text and, if you like, a simple image to put on your sign. You can choose to paint or stain your sign after it is made. Learn more about our CNC router and what it can do on our webpage: https://www.portagelibrary.info/creation-station/cnc-machine/

This program is a design class only. Due to time constraints, the signs will need to be made after the class and picked up at a later date. This is a good way to learn CNC machining basics.

This program will be offered three in the month of September:

Tuesday, September 10 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Monday, September 16 from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 25 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Registration is required and begins on September 1, 2024 9:00 AM.

Attendee slots are limited due to space and equipment limitations. If you register and are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible to allow other patrons a chance to sign up. Please do not sign up for duplicate programs. If you do sign up for duplicate programs, you will be contacted and asked to choose one.

If registration fills up and you are not able to attend one of these sessions, the Makerspace has Staffed Hours every day where a trained Makerspace staff person can help you with projects such as this one or other projects you might have. Please visit our website for our Staffed Hours. https://www.portagelibrary.info/creation-station/

Accommodations: All participants are welcome. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact Jane Fleming at jfleming@portagelibrary.info in advance of your visit.
